Israel Stamp Facts 

PROLOGUE or INTRODUCTION

  Israel provides an very interesting and exciting collecting area. Unlike many of the countries, it was only established in 1948. So it is a much newer country than many that collectors would choose to collect. It is a country rich in Biblical heritage and offers many interesting collecting opportunities. It can be an area rich in Topical subjects.  Israel developed the method to produce stamps with "tabs" attached which is different from most other countries.  Collectors can find the area interesting by collecting single stamps, tab stamps, etc.

One collecting area that is much similar to the United States is the collecting of plate blocks. Collectors of Israel have actively collected the plate blocks of each issue. The definitive stamps which includes the Doar Ivri issues are particulary sought after.  Also, Israel stamp booklets which were often overlooked in the early years are an exceptional collecting area.
